 Anti-gang and Anti-drug Programs

In partnership with community members, previous gangs members and the RCMP – MSAR sponsors workshops and presentations to youth on the consequences of drug and gangs influencing their life.  The program has been operating for five years.

Youth Positive Role Model Program

Presentations are made to aboriginal youth by Aboriginal mentors telling their stories of over coming adversity to accomplish their goals and positive direction in life.  The program has been operating for five years and has sport athletes, entrepreneurs and professionals as presenters.

Youth Wilderness  & Survival Programs

MSAR provides outdoor survival training to eligible youth in communities teaching – map, compus and GPS, how to build a survival shelter or start a fire.  This program has been operating for four years and will be merging with our main MSAR basic training program to bring youth and community leaders together.

Youth Access

MSAR accesses opportunities for youth as requested – instances would be coach training, cpr and first aid, sports equipment – such as in partnerships with Kitayan (Billy Monias – community leader) supplied and help setup the Garden Hill Golf Course.  MSAR provides the link to programs and services for youth.

Community Safety Program

In partnership with a retired RCMP officer, MSAR sponsors a workshop and presentation to chief and council related to community safety initiatives and how to better structure and setup safety operations for a reserve.  Some topics of discussion – community security, budgeting, drugs and gangs, training for safety officer or band constables.
